THE CALL
How do you know God is calling you?
Inward call:
- Through Holy Spirit - God speaks to those He has called.
- Those He has called know it by: sense of leading, purpose and growing commitment.
External call:
- God uses the congregation to call out the called to ministry.
- As a family of faith, take responsibility to encourage those whom God has called to respond to that call with joy and submission.
Do you sense that God is calling you to ministry, whether as pastor or another servant of the Church?
Do you burn with a compulsion to proclaim the Word, share the Gospel, and care for God's flock?
Has this call been confirmed and encouraged by those Christians who know you best?
God still calls . . . has He called you?

I don't see how Christians are not called to ministry. I don't see how Christians can live their live for their own. I don't see how Christians who see the Gospel as something precious but not want to share it. What type of ministry is another quesion altogether.
Oops... unless I read your post wrongly... maybe you're talking to non-Christians...
Hey sorry, I should've been clearer in this post. Sometimes it worries me, any christianity matters can be so easily mis-interpreted, unless you mark it with strong statement.
"The" call to ministry. I believe God calls certain people to serve the Church as pastors or other ministers.
But of course, all Christians are called to serve Christ with their lives, in the end, that's what God requires of us.
Can't people use 'the call' as an excuse to not do ministry?
Can people who don't have 'the call' to be pastors?
In the Bible, what's the nature of the call, of which ministers are called to? And should this be the norm?
I believe God has called everyone whom He has saved, to be His disciples in whichever life circumstances, regardless. So like you said before, that every christian is called to do ministry. But again, with this post, it was meaning a "full-time" ministry.
Can someone without 'the call' be a pastor? Well, possibly. Or the other way around, can someone with 'the call' not be a pastor? Yes, many of them I think. But, don't we know that God works in everything and that He is control over things.
He still works with/out us, it's just that whether we are willing to be used by Him completely.
But again, please don't get confused by the term 'call'. I guess it's just a term, what it means will be determined by its context.
What's your thought Vic? =)
From the Bible, do you think that the pattern/norm is God called people in 2 steps process: first to be Christian, then (some) to "full-time" ministry?
If someone has 'the call' and not be a pastor, aren't they disobeying God?
I wonder how much weight should we emphasize to people to use 'the call' as basis for ministry.
Woops... *was filling in the identity form below, and accidentally pressed 'Enter' key*... the previous entry was by me... <:
I think it's so our nature to disobey God, so it might not be a surprise. But it's not meant to an excuse, anyway...
I'm not saying 'going to a theology college' would mean that 'you're doing a ministry', otherwise you aren't?. This 'ministry' I was talking about is just another kind of ministry, as what Paul said that we are God's church/people with different functions (according to their gifts given) but are still 'one' (ministry) to build God's church and His kingdom.
In whatever roles we have, we still proclaim God's Name.
I got it... so what you mean in this case is 'going to a theological college' type of ministry...
I felt that at least your questions "Do you sense that God is calling you to ministry, whether as pastor or another servant of the Church?", and "Do you burn with a compulsion to proclaim the Word, share the Gospel, and care for God's flock?" doesn't require theological college training (doesn't mean that theological college won't help)... probably I'm reading "pastor" loosely... (not as ordained, full time paid)... and "God's flock"... (not as 70 people or more)...
Your question at 4:09PM is very good one, I think... "it's just that whether we are willing to be used by Him completely"... and when we become Christians, we're giving our life completely (not just our weekends) to Him... (and this might mean serving him as full time pastors)... this is why om Joni at someone's (I can't remember who) baptism asked if he's willing to be full time paid pastors...
